Loughside Lodge - 5 bed bungalow

Disappointing and dirty. Positive: Great, spacious fridge freezer with ice already in it for us Clean bedding and towels (though see below…) Big air fryer Hot tub water changed so knew was fresh (but meant couldn’t use first evening) Hosts were quick to respond to messages Fantastic spacious garden with views to the lake and marina Good location - easy access to Enniskillen and local shops Kitchen relatively well equipped but lots of serving spoons/fish slices etc were missing handles Negative: We had read lots of positive reviews about the property but we were extremely disappointed with the condition and cleanliness. On arrival, the house smelled damp and mouldy and a bit like wet dog. We immediately opened all the windows and doors which helped a bit but the mouldy smell persisted, particularly in the bunk bed room. My children’s soft toys they take to bed have come home stinking of mould. During the week, their hair and pyjamas smelled mouldy. We kept the windows open 24-7 but it did little to help. The rest of the bedrooms did not smell mouldy but felt damp if the windows were shut. There were water marks all down the walls of the master bedroom. The house felt unclean and was very dusty with cobwebs in lots of places. There was a long pipe rug in the living room that was covered in dog hair. There were long pile fluffy cushions which smelled. There was nowhere to hang up our coats as the coat cupboard was already full of coats and jackets. We were given one towel each and only my mum brought over some spares, we would have had to use the same towel for the hot tub and shower. There were no tea towels or clothespegs and only the housekeeper was still there filling the hot tub when we arrived, I don’t think we would have got these. There was no hot water to wash dishes the first evening and I had to contact the host to ask how to get this. This info should be given automatically. Also the housekeeper said if we wanted the grass cut, we should contact the host. Why is this not done automatically at regular intervals during the summer when guests are staying?! The shower in the master en suite had a big hole in the electric panel and made a screaming noise so we avoided using it and ended up having to use the one off the mouldy bedroom instead, the door to which didn’t shut properly meaning the floor was soaking and had to be mopped up after each use. The wheels bins were full and not due to be emptied for 3 days.

Ok Positive: Lovely garden, nice location. Negative: Wasn’t as clean as it could have been, property is quite tired, could do with a freshen up.

Positive: Our extended family just spent 3 nights here, there was 9 of us in total. The house is so spacious and plenty of room for everyone. The grounds and hot tub were enjoyed by us all. The location is great for exploring Enniskillen and beyond. We will definitely be back!
